Corporate Recognition and Community Engagement

At FBL Financial Group, we're committed to doing the right thing - for our customers and the communities where we do business. That commitment starts at the top with our management team. Our employees are extremely involved throughout the year in company-sponsored outreach and volunteer activities. Our corporate values are fundamentally aligned with a corporate culture that underscores the importance of stepping up and giving back.

United Way

FBL Financial Group takes its commitment to doing the right thing - for our customers and the communities where we do business - very seriously. That commitment aligns well with United Way's mission to inspire all of us to serve the community. In 2012, FBL was recognized by United Way of Central Iowa with a LIVE UNITED award in Volunteer category for organizations with 800 or more employees, and served as a Pacesetter company for central Iowa, utilizing best practices to achieve campaign goals and set the pace for other organizations in the community.

The previous year, United Way of Central Iowa recognized FBL Financial Group for its commitment to community advocacy with the large-company Advocate award. In recognizing FBL, United Way judges cited FBL's Women's Leadership Connection's commitment to early childhood education needs in mobilizing the local corporate community to create 1,000 custom educational beanbags for local United Way-supported early learning centers and home daycare providers. In the United Way of Central Iowa's 2008 LIVE UNITED Awards, FBL was recognized in the Volunteer category for organizations with 1,000+ employees.

Our organization was recognized with the 2003 Spirit of Central Iowa Award by United Way of Central Iowa. The Spirit of Central Iowa Award is the highest honor an organization can receive in recognition of its support of United Way's annual community campaign. The award is given to an employee group that exemplifies the spirit of commitment and leadership. It recognizes the unique accomplishments of the employee group honored and serves as an example for others to follow.

Children & Families of Iowa

In 2011, FBL Financial Group employees purchased and donated items for 50 families for the Children & Families of Iowa (CFI) Adopt-a-Family program. Jim Brannen - FBL's Chief Executive Officer and past-president of CFI's board of directors - championed the cause, and FBL's Women's Inclusive Network (WINs) coordinated the effort. For a third year, the wrapped gifts for the families filled a 24-foot truck used to transport the donations to CFI.
